The Mt. Diablo Section of the Society of Women Engineers is part of the Golden West Region of SWE. The Mt. Diablo Section was originally part of the Golden Gate Section, but was formed to create a smaller geographic area allowing for more member participation at meetings and other section activities. Our section's geographical area stretches from Fairfield in the North, to Sunol in the south, and covers the area between the Oakland/Berkeley Hills and the Central Valley. Our section is very diverse. Our members work for local government agencies, the chemical and petroleum industry, national research laboratories, utilities, consulting firms and their own companies.

Santa Clara Valley Section Scholarship Lunch

SWE Santa Clara Valley section would like to invite members of the Mt. Diablo Section to attend their annual scholarship banquet. The guest speaker this year is Jill Tietjen, who is an author, engineer, speaker and life member of SWE (and served as the 1991-1992 National President). She will discuss chief characteristics of women profiled in her latest book, Her Story: A Timeline of the Women Who Changed America, and also highlight historical women whose accomplishments epitomize aspects of leadership that would be desirable for women of the 21st century to emulate. For more information and how to RSVP, please go to the SCVS website (scroll to the bottom for SWE-Upcoming Events -- 2008). Please note that you must RSVP by Monday, May 19 to attend the event!

TECH Academy of Silicon Valley

This Summer, Give Your Sons and Daughters a Chance to Succeed! A big part of life is learning to solve problems. Engineers thrive on finding solutions. They combine math and science with creativity, and use their brains and hands to build things to solve problems. Your child can be introduced to what engineers do, as early as their summer before 6th grade. The Tech Academy of Silicon Valley is a grassroots program to help students explore and improve the skills needed to pursue college level work in engineering, technology and science. Visit the TECH Academy web site for more information.
